Do you need our help?
You might need our support if you are struggling to understand or take part in health, care, or support decisions, experiencing disagreements about care or treatment, detained or supported under the Mental Health Act, facing decisions about capacity or best interests, concerned about safety, abuse, or neglect, dealing with DoLS or LPS arrangements, trying to access benefits, DWP, or housing support, unsure how to raise complaints or appeal Local Authority decisions, in need of representation in the Court of Protection, or feeling ignored, excluded, or overwhelmed by complex processes.
We help you understand your rights, speak up, and get the support you need.
Frequently asked questions
Navigating health and social care can be complex, and you likely have questions about advocacy and how we can support you. Below are answers to the most common queries we receive at Advocacy Solutions, designed to help you understand your options and how we can make a difference.
Am I entitled to advocacy?
We can help you understand if you qualify for statutory advocacy, including IMCA, IMHA, Care Act advocacy, or Court of Protection support.
What kind of advocacy can you provide?
We offer support across health, social care, safeguarding, benefits, housing, complaints, and family advocacy.
Do I have to pay for advocacy?
If you are entitled to statutory advocacy under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983, or Care Act 2014, our services are free of charge. You only pay if you choose private or non-statutory advocacy.
Can I choose my own advocate?
Yes — where reasonably practicable, you can request a specific advocacy organisation or advocate.
How will you help me?
We explain your options, help you communicate your wishes, attend meetings on your behalf, and challenge decisions if needed.
Can you help me with benefits, housing, or complaints?
Yes — we support people navigating complex processes with the DWP, housing, or Local Authority complaints.
How long will your support last?
Support lasts as long as you need it, from initial advice through to resolution of your case.
Will you protect my confidentiality and rights?
Always. We work independently, respect your privacy, and ensure your rights are upheld.
I’m worried about my safety or someone else’s — can you help?
Yes — we provide safeguarding support and guidance for adults at risk.
